Full age range sample

The Understanding Society sample includes the full age range of the UK population at any point in time. It complements existing age-focused studies sampling elderly people (for instance the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing) or young people (for instance birth cohort studies such as the Millennium Cohort Study) by:

• providing a unique opportunity to look at behaviours and transitions in mid-life - for example for issues of pensions and long-term care, associated with old age
• allowing analysis of all cohorts at a common point in time
